本學期的主題有三。第一部份是Boas所開創的美國的文化人類學。第二部分是以Leslie White以及Steward為主的新演化論對Boasian的Cultural Particularism的反動。第三部分則是象徵與詮釋人類學。第四部分則是人類學自八零年代後的發展。
